The Wave Hub ProjectDate: 4 June 2009 Speakers: Nick Harrington General Manager, Wave Hub The UK has one of the largest wave energy resources in Europe. Allowing for technical, practical and environmental limitations, wave energy could generate up to one sixth of the UK“s electricity consumption and by 2020 the wave energy market in the UK could be worth £200 million. Wave Hub is a groundbreaking renewable energy project in the South West of England that will create the UK“s first (and the world“s largest) offshore facility for the demonstration of wave energy generation devices. This talk will focus not only on renewable energy and its importance, but also on the multi-disciplinary engineering that will go into the project: electrical, offshore, marine, civil and mechanical engineering, as well as fixed and wireless telecoms The Engineering Club celebrating engineering for engineers and their friends.
